Together the IUF Latin American and Asia-Pacific Regional Secretariats have built an intense flow of information and carried out countless solidarity actions over the last few years.

Affiliates from Latin America stand out in denouncing the atrocities and ongoing human rights abuses perpetrated by the military dictatorship in Myanmar, while the Asia-Pacific affiliates have been the most active in supporting the awareness-raising campaigns against the brutal dismantling of the state furthered by the government of Javier Milei in Argentina and against the elimination policy that is being deployed in the distribution section of PepsiCO in Honduras.

Both Regional Secretariats and their affiliates understand that fascism and human rights abuses must be defeated in all their forms, whenever and wherever they rear their ugly head.

Today fellow sisters and brothers from South Asia lend their support to the campaign for the liberation of Sônia María de Jesús, a Brazilian woman who has been suffering under slave-like conditions for the past 40 years working in the household of a distinguished and eminent judge who sits on the Court of Justice of Santa Catarina (TJSC), in the southern Brazilian city of Florianópolis (SC).

This magistrate, Jorge Luiz de Borba, in his racist and privileged class view of the world believes he is entitled to make another human being his property and turn life into a worthless object.
